Exploring nature's beauty in watercolors and acrylics

ERIN MCGUIRE ENDEAN

Erin Endean is a watercolor artist, specializing in landscapes and flowers. She also paints in acrylics and oils. A self-described “social painter”, she draws energy from painting with others, especially plein air, where all her senses are fully engaged. As a teacher of art, her goal is for students to experience the joy and creativity of painting; she often uses abstracts and small projects such as cards to encourage boldness and reduce first-time painters’ “fear of failure.”

Erin has exhibited in juried shows at the Falls Church Art Gallery, the Great Falls (VA) Art Center, Windridge Vineyards (MD), and the Kensington (MD) Armory’s annual Labor Day Plein Air Art Show.  She sells her paintings via Falls Church Arts, at plein air competitions in the mid-Atlantic region, at a gallery in Northern Minnesota, and through her Instagram, @erinendeanart.

Erin teaches watercolor and acrylics monthly at The Kensington–an assisted living facility in Northern Virginia. She was privileged to be an Artist in Residence at Star Island, New Hampshire, in July 2024. She is a member of Falls Church Arts and the McLean Arts Society.

A retired economic development specialist, Erin has worked to improve the lives and livelihoods of people in over 35 low- and middle-income countries on six continents.  She previously headed the $100 million economic growth division of a global consulting firm, where she nurtured the talents and synergies of 320 staff in 32 countries. Earlier, she advised US businesses with a focus on their trade and investment strategies and challenges.  As a trade negotiator with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, she negotiated trade agreements and helped resolve trade disputes for the United States with both Japan and China. She has BS and MA degrees (East Asian Studies) from Yale University.
