Judith Landry’s passion for painting began in kindergarten. She vividly remembers standing at the easel, brush in hand, smock dragging on the floor, pushing vibrant colors across the canvas. Ms. Landry’s love for painting never disappeared. After a career as an attorney in Northern Virginia, she continued the journey of her lifetime in art.

Judith has studied art in Northern Virginia and West Virginia for the past 13 years. She has taken many classes and workshops from local and nationally-recognized art teachers and has exhibited and won awards in juried exhibitions in Northern Virginia and Beckley, West Virginia.

Her style can be characterized as impressionistic realism. Influenced by John Singer Sargent, she strives to produce the sense of immediacy and emotional depth reflected in his great works. Judith’s travels have been a source of endless inspiration. Whether depicting a scene from the edge of a West Virginia gorge or an Umbrian hill town, Judith’s plein air landscapes capture the feeling and tone of the scene. Her loose, flowing style draws the viewer into the moment. Her still life paintings, often rendered alla prima, contain a vibrancy that makes them come alive. Judith’s works also include figures, street scenes and interiors.

Judith is a member of the Arlington Artists’ Alliance in Arlington, VA and a Board Member of the McLean Art Society in McLean, VA.
