Born in Puerto Rico, Lizzy discovered her love of painting at an early age. She pursued her artistic endeavors by studying with a local artist, acclaimed painter, Bart Mayol, learning to use oils and pastels mediums. After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, she relocated to California to work as a Physiotherapist. She continued taking art classes at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA to refine her painting. Upon retiring in 2019, Lizzy returned to the Visual Arts on a full time basis.
Lizzy’s art comes from her life experiences, leisure travels overseas, as well as domestic trips. I am inspired by colorful vistas, scenic landscapes and over natural beauty filled with color. To me, paintings are portals, filled with ideas and emotions. Art is like breathing-it is an integral part of my everyday life.
Lizzy has displayed her artwork virtually at the Kyo Gallery in Alexandria, VA. She has participated in juried theme exhibits at Artist in Middleburg, Middleburg, VA; Gallery Underground, Arlington, VA; Falls Church Arts Gallery in Falls Church, VA; Crossroads Art Alliance in Haymarket, VA and at Gallery One in Loudoun Government Building in Leesburg, VA. Also, her artwork has been exhibited at the Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, VA and ArtSpace in Herndon, VA. Her paintings have been featured in the Loudoun Arts Council website. Solo exhibitions of her artwork have been displayed at several Loudoun Public Libraries and the Raymond James Financial Services Bldg. in Leesburg, VA.
In 2024, Lizzy was accepted to the Gum Spring Library Artist in Residency Program. The Residency lasted three months and during these time, Lizzy collaborated with the Makerspace staff to provide one class a month to the Library patrons. Throughout the three months Lizzy created original pieces based on a different theme every month.
She is a member of the Loudoun Art Council, Loudoun Sketch Club, Falls Church Arts Gallery, Friends of Leesburg Public Arts and the Crossroads Arts Alliance and McLean Art Society.
